Hot and Cold Therapy

Hot and cold therapy is often used to treat (minor) injuries, sprains, muscle aches, swelling and stiffness. Hot and cold therapy does not involve the use of medication. This makes the therapy suitable for everyone at any time.

PhysioSupplies offers various hot and cold packs, some packs are suitable for hot or cold therapy only, and some packs can be used both hot and cold. The Elasto Gel packs can be used both hot and cold and are available in various sizes to suit the body part. The Chattanooga FlexiPACs can also be used for hot and cold therapy.

Heat Therapy

Heat therapy, also known as hyperthermia, often involves the use of hot packs or heat compresses. Heat improves the blood flow to the muscles and joints, which in turn makes you feel relaxed. Pain is reduced by the heat and recovery is promoted.

PhysioSupplies offers several heat packs. Heat packs can be heated by warming them up in hot water, in the oven or in the microwave. Professional heating units are also available to warm up the HotPacs from Chattanooga. Sissel offers a heat pack which heats up at the touch of a button, without the help of a microwave or oven.

Cold Therapy

Cold packs and compresses are used in cold therapy, also known as cryotherapy. Cold may temporarily reduce symptoms. If the joint is twisted, the cold will reduce the pain and the swelling. Reacting to the cold, the body will warm itself up, resulting in better blood circulation and leading to a faster recovery from injuries.

The ColPacs from Chattanooga are cooled in a cooling unit. A cooling unit ensures that a cold pack becomes cold more quickly than in a freezer or refrigerator. IcePower is a cooling gel for the skin. The gel is rubbed on the skin, creating a cooling sensation thanks to the eucalyptus and menthol. Aircast packs provides relief when swelling occurs due to an operation or injury, for example. The Aircast packs have a coupling on the underside that allows the pack to be attached to the Aircast Cryo/Cuff IC Cooler. This device circulates cold water through the pack.
