The "Agu-Punt Dry Needling" needles are especially designed in cooperation with the well-known specialists from "Dry Needling"; Dr. Johnson McEvoy, Dr. Jan Dimmerholt and Prof. Orlando Mayoral.
The biggest difference between the "Agu-Punt Dry Needling" needles and regular acupuncture needles is, that the "Dry Needling" technique is used with thicker and less flexible needles. Therefore, it is easier to work without huge precision. The combination of high quality surgical steel with trifold coating makes the dot sharper and the treatment less painfull.

“Dry needling“ with the “Agu punt dry“ needles includes the introduction of a “dry“ needle into the affected muscle or muscles involved. With “dry“ is merely meant the introduction of the needle without any addition of drugs.“Dry needling“ is based on anatomical and neurophysiological principles and does not belong to the traditional acupuncture treatment. Therefore, no medication is used while introducing the needle, instead it is just the “trigger point“ that gets treated directly.
A “trigger point“ is a result of a taut band that is formed in the muscle. The “trigger point“ is the most painfull spot in this taut band. This leads to a reduced function of the muscles and to sudden muscle spasm. In addition to pain, it may also e.g. lead to a reduced contractility of the muscle. This spasm disappears when the muscle fibers start to contract. This contraction can be caused by introducting the “Agu Punt“ needle directly into the “trigger point“. This leads to a directly relaxation of the muscle. Through muscle metabolism a pain is caused by the disappearance of the “trigger point“.
