Dry Needling in physiotherapy

Dry needling is a technique that is often used in physiotherapy. With dry needling a 'dry' needle, which means without liquid, is brought into a trigger point. A trigger point is a knot in the muscle that often causes pain. Trigger points are more than once the source of pain in joints, which is considered for arthritis, tendon or bursitis, or ligament injuries. When a muscle is pricked with dry needling, it will quickly and prolonged relax. A dry needling treatment should switch off the trigger points so that pain complaints decrease.
